"I found the You Can Be World Class seminar very motivating. Chris was refreshingly honest in the challenges he overcame and the goals he set
himself on his way to becoming a world class swimmer, and Simon really helps you to see how you can put these challenges and goals into a business context.
It does leave you feeling you can do anything you put your mind to and be one of the best in your chosen field, whatever that is."

Simon has worked with, and continues to work with, World Class athletes from all sporting disciplines, providing them with sports psychology assistance to enhance their personal or team performance. In 2001 Chris was referred to Simon by his swimming coach Ian Oliver, after a disappointing World Student Games in Beijing. Chris was eager to optimise his performance in the water and competitive anxiety was the thing that was holding him back. It was at this point that the pair were about to embark on a seven year journey that would see them explore the highs and the lows that come with following the dreams of an average guy striving to become a world class athlete.
Simon and Chris would meet on a weekly basis and the sessions were constructed to help Chris to come to an understanding of the power of the mind and how best to harness this power to aid/optimise his personal performance in the pool. The hour or two meetings each week would involve self help topics of concentration, meditation, confidence, emotional control, commitment, goal setting, performance profiling and so on. The real value to their work came during the cycle of 2005-2006 when Chris achieved two gold medals at the Common Wealth Games, however it wasn't the medals that came to be the most significant and meaningful part of this work together, it was the remarkable and ground breaking journey that lead the team to victory. Simon had formed a blue print for achieving dreams and Chris was walking the walk, proving this theory to be worthy, backing it up with personal triumph on a world stage.
To date Chris has gone from an 'average swimmer status' to competing at two Olympic games and an Olympic final position. He can boast being the only British male to have ever swum under 60 seconds for 100m breaststroke and own a handful of international medals. Simon and Chris have plans to carry on successfully working together sharing their experiences with businesses, teams or individuals who are in pursuit of becoming world class themselves. Simon and Chris have started a business called 'You Can Be World Class Ltd' and have plans to hold seminars and conferences across the country outlining the findings of their work together backing it up with personal experiences and anecdotal stories.
